Okay, Gang, this one's all about the many ways you (and the nation) are being played - by corporations and by the government, which aid and abet the corporations to play you.

There are two tiny groups (60,000+ individuals -.00001% of humanity) of sub-humans directly responsible for all the mayhem and misery you see in the world today: The Nexi and the Fundies - religious fundamentalists (they think they're in charge but, they are really just the useful tools of The Nexi).
Most Nexi are driven solely by greed and the power that derives from such dazzling wealth; Turns out, it really is tougher to kick than crack.
Fundy misLeaders - a few of whom qualify as Nexi - are driven by a reduced level of greed (though somehow, 'god' always seems to want them to be rich), but also by a Messianic zeal to manipulate hundreds of millions of others, mainly, by fear-mongering the perils of eternal damnation. And you thought we had all that here..
The Nexi: the elites, Bilderburgers, Bush family, David Rockefeller, Wall Street banksters, a few Fundies, any cartel or syndicate whose aim is to crush all competition in their chosen area of dominance (oil, drugs, food, etc); usually by whatever means it takes. Take Capitalism to its logical conclusion and you end up with monopoly. Take monopoly to it's logical conclusion and you end up with totalitarianism.
Fundy Elites: Koch Brothers (2nd largest private company on the planet), Richard Mellon Scaife (bank heir), Dorothy De Vos (wife of an Amway founder), 2/3 of Wal-Mart heirs, top 10 televangelists - you get the picture.
Overseas, the House of Saud, leaders of Kuwait, Oman, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, etc.
I won't waste your time with too much detail about these Machiavellian nightmares. All you really need to know is that their blood-money (ill-gotten gains at the expense of the less powerful), endless plotting and dirty tricks fund a morals-free cornucopia of efforts designed to destroy every last vestige of equal, just and cooperative societies on the planet. That is, societies that work for all the members in that society, regardless of wealth, religious or sexual proclivities, gender, politics, etc.
Of interest is the pecking order among this loose alliance: Anglos play everybody via control of the world money supply (backed up by a kick-ass military), Saudis manipulate oil prices to apply pressure for their interests. They also fund every 'terrorist' outfit not being funded by Iran or the CIA (they're all terrorists), including those currently fighting NATO and US forces to a standstill in Afghanistan. Notice a few oxymorons and counterintuitives here? The Fundy Elites are the weakest party here. What they bring to the party are ground troops: Al Qaeda (funded by the CIA and the Saudis), Tea Party (funded by the ever-busy Koch boys), no diff. But, Wall Street (secular elites - no religious agenda) may be in for a surprise. The Fundies' penetration deep into the armed services over the past 2-3 decades is, frankly, frightening. If you think the prospect of Army troops and tanks in the streets of America (mostly forbidden since 1878) is disturbing, add the daily drumbeat of indoctrination from superior officers to tow the Fundy line of accepting Jesus as your personal saviour, etc., etc. If they ever reach critical mass - a few key generals and administration officials (think Al Haig) - we might see a replay of Seven Days In May.
